Suzanne Diffine is a perpetual 8th grader. By choice.

Like many of her middle school students, she has an enduring fascination with all things weird and wacky. You might say that’s her superpower. She delights in writing nonfiction books that introduce these oddities to adolescents who love to learn, but more importantly to those who aren’t so sure yet.

Her learning resource EAT THIS! POOP COFFEE, WORM CHEESE, AND OTHER FANTASTICAL FOODS WORLDWIDE features 27 foods from every continent…gross grub like America’s space-age snack Spray Cheese, made with ingredients found in floor wax. Or Peruvian corn beer, containing human saliva. EAT THIS! employs playful rhythms, whimsical illustrations, history tidbits, recipes, maps, and amusing real-life stories, celebrating the ingenuity of the cultures that created these dishes. Educational, informative, and amusing, it speaks to middle school students.
